Black Wagyu Breeding Stock for Sale

Excellent Marbling   Low Birth Weights    High Yields

Considered to be a national treasure in Japan, Wagyu cattle are a unique source of valuable traits for the cattleman and the consumer.  The cattleman enjoys premiums from higher yields and superb carcass quality, calving ease, docile temperament, early maturity, longevity, heat tolerance, and hybrid vigor.  (Click here for more details.)  The consumer enjoys the unequalled, rich taste of the meat and the health benefits.

The American Wagyu herd descended from 26 Black and 6 Red Wagyu foundation sires and approximately 200 females imported by various groups and individuals between 1975 and 1999.  With the scarcity of agricultural land, the Japanese  looked to the U. S. as a resource for producing Wagyu beef that they could then export back to Japan.  They have since become more protective of this precious resource and no further export of Wagyu genetics has occurred since 1999.  This makes the existing breeding stock in the U.S. very valuable, especially since Japan is poised to resume its beef imports.

Wagyu originated primarily from the native Asian cattle with a minor influence of British and Continental breeds.  The U.S. Black Wagyu herd has its origins primarily in three Japanese prefectures (counties) located in southern Japan:  Hyogo, Shimane, and Tottori.   The climate in these areas is sub-tropical--hot and humid, although Hyogo Prefecture has colder winters and snow.  Hyogo is noted for the production of Kobe beef, which is simply Wagyu cattle raised around the city of Kobe.  The rugged terrain and isolation of each of these prefectures led to different characteristics in their cattle.

Understanding the strengths and weaknesses of these three lines guides our breeding decisions.  Our goal is to produce cattle that grow well and have good maternal qualities while not sacrificing meat quality.  Some of the sires we utilize include ...
